I’ve been away in the Netherlands for two weeks, where I was surrounded by sheep yet unable to find anything resembling nice locally-raised yarn.

While I was away, Mimi did play, making a plan to fill The Loop with all sorts of new yarns. I returned to be greeted by many new products, from far away (Berroco’s South American alpaca yarns) and from close by (the beautiful shetland laceweight from Last Resort Farm here in Nova Scotia).

Now I’m writing to procrastinate from delving into the three more huge boxes that arrived today, filled with Cascade products. There are 21 colours of Cascade 220, with more on the way. Our old favourite Pastaza, the aran-weight wool-llama blend that is so soft and cushy, is here in some lovely new shades. Other returning favourites include Cloud Cotton and Pima Tencel, both popular plant-based yarns. And a brand new sock yarn that I have a feeling is going to be a big hit is Cascade’s Cadenza, a gorgeous wool-silk blend in rich semi-solid colours.

I nearly forgot to mention that our shipment of Cascade 220 Superwash also arrived yesterday, and it includes several colours we haven’t had before.

And on an unrelated note, a courier showed up today bringing us a special mysterious delivery of more movie passes. This time’s it’s an animated feature called “Igor”, starring John Cusack as the hunchbacked assistant to a mad scientist. The cast also includes Steve Buscemi, John Cleese, and Christian Slater. But really, John Cusack … what more do you need to know? last time I saw him and Steve Buscemi together was in Con Air, my favourite action movie (and I don’t usually like action movies).

Pop by if you’d like one of these passes for two people. The screening is at Empire Bayers Lake on Saturday September 13th at 10:00 a.m. (Bring a kid and pretend that’s who insisted on going to see John Cusack.) Supplies are limited! (Read more about Igor at IMDB.)
